Window IQ Commercial · The case for a better building envelope

Better envelope. Proven over the life of the building.

A tool for architects to show clients — developers and owners alike — why a higher-performance window, door and curtain wall package is worth the upfront cost. It puts real numbers on the long-run case: lower energy and operating cost, asset-value uplift, code and carbon headroom, and the comfort and durability conventional glazing can't match. Supply scales to the largest towers and multi-building portfolios — capacity is never the constraint. Set the project parameters, pick who you're presenting to, and the verdict updates in real time.

What Window IQ does

Window IQ (Commercial) is a free tool that builds the financial case for high-performance façades. It is made for architects and building professionals who need to show developers and owners why a better window, door or curtain-wall system pays for itself — through lower operating cost, higher asset value, and code-and-carbon headroom. It quantifies four things.

Energy savings

Whole-wall U-value math (ASHRAE 90.1) that captures the frame thermal bridging dominating curtain-wall heat loss — conventional aluminium (≈0.55) vs. LuxHaus thermally broken systems (below 0.20 W/m²K).

NOI uplift

Capitalises energy, demand-charge and maintenance savings at market cap rates to show the impact on asset value.

Code-compliance margin

Headroom against climate-zone U-value / SHGC limits, with carbon-penalty exposure modelled (e.g. NYC Local Law 97). LuxHaus systems typically exceed top-tier requirements by 30–70%.

Lifecycle carbon

50-year operational carbon plus embodied carbon — LuxHaus (18–25 kg CO₂/m²) vs. conventional aluminium (35–55 kg CO₂/m²) — with 100% end-of-life recyclability.

It also credits HVAC equipment downsizing, rolls everything into a total-cost-of-ownership view, and estimates occupant comfort (interior glass surface temperature and glare hours). Enter your building type, climate, energy codes and ownership horizon, get a live verdict, then export a PDF, share a link or match products — with Emma, our AI advisor, available 24/7.

Want to go deeper? Read the U.S. Department of Energy research on high-performance windows, see how Passive House performance targets work, and explore the LuxHaus window and door range.

Read it as decision support, not a final engineering deliverable. Confirming performance still requires modelling (eQUEST / IES-VE / EnergyPlus) and mock-up testing (AAMA / ASTM / EN). Use Window IQ to size the opportunity and align stakeholders early.
